When creating my blog Too Tall For Heels, another name that I considered was 'Hiking Socks and Polka Dots' because wearing hiking socks and mixing prints are such large parts of my fashion aesthetic.
I have some personal rules for myself that I follow in my head when styling an outfit. These rules have stuck with me and evolved over the years. One major rule is using hiking socks to cover the gap between pants and shoes.
This rule came to be because of two reasons: 1) My Pants usually aren't long enough and 2) Hiking socks are really pretty.
Its very rare for me to find a pair of pants that fit me in the waist and are actually long enough for me. Sometimes I cuffed the pants in an attempt to make them capris, but that got old fast. I love the patterns and height on hiking socks so I started wearing them with pants even when they were long enough to add a unique touch to my outfits.
Hiking socks are now a staple in my wardrobe and I keep adding new pairs to my collection.
At almost 5' 10'', I'm often told that I am too tall to wear heels. How I always want to respond is: "Then you're too short to wear flats". I believe people should wear what makes them happy judgement free. Enjoy my adventures of mixing patterns and textures, and wearing heels at socially unacceptable times.
